Yale New Haven Health, Yale Medicine and Yale University recently launched the Center for Health Care Innovation to encourage ideas and support initiatives that will transform health care.
Now, the Center is inviting YNHHS employees and physicians, along with those from the other organizations, to submit innovation proposals. These may involve novel advancements in areas such as digital health/health information technology, artificial intelligence and data analytics, medical devices, diagnostics, drug-delivery platforms and finance/operations/management tools.
The Center for Health Care Innovation has already received proposals to address antibiotic resistance and heart failure. Approved proposals may receive research support, staffing, mentorship and funding.
“Our organizations have long histories of research and breakthroughs that have impacted medicine worldwide,” said Peter Schulam, MD, PhD, chief innovation and transformation officer, Yale New Haven Health. “The Center for Health Care Innovation will provide the structure, expertise and support to turn new ideas into advances that will redefine health care and improve not just treatment, but the patient experience and the way we operate.”
YNHHS’ Office of Strategy Management is providing project management for the new Center for Health Care Innovation, which includes Sparq culture-building initiatives that launched last year.
“Sparq generated a lot of interest with the call for proposals and pitch event at the Safety, Quality and Experience Conference,” said Margaret Cartiera, PhD, Center for Health Care Innovation director. “Our vision is to expand on that work, and take innovation to the next level.”
