Marna Borgstrom, CEO, Yale New Haven Health, recently announced that the annual Closer to Free (CTF) Ride will go on as planned via a virtual format. This year marks the 10th anniversary of the ride, which raises funds for both Smilow Cancer Hospital and Yale Cancer Center. Presented by Bank of America, this year’s event has been restructured due to COVID-19 restrictions.
“Thanks to a new, virtual platform, participants can ride and fundraise from wherever they choose and whenever they prefer,” said Borgstrom. “Following local and state health guidelines to ensure everyone’s safety means we won’t be able to gather in person on Sept. 12, but we will unite virtually and bring vital hope and support to Smilow Cancer Hospital and Yale Cancer Center. We will honor signature ride day traditions, like the opening ceremony, via a live stream and other virtual experiences throughout the day.”
Many fun and unique additions, like the 10 Year Challenge – encouraging the CTF community to ride 100,000 miles collectively in advance of ride day – will keep riders engaged and inspired. As always, 100% of the funds raised will support patient care and research at Smilow Cancer Hospital and Yale Cancer Center.”
A special registration discount has been created for all employees. Use promo code YNHH20 upon registration, and you will receive $5 off your registration fee.
