Throughout September, Diversity Equity Inclusion and Belonging Council (DEIB) members Nadine Mitchell, practice supervisor, and Vanessa Pomarico Denino, APRN, coordinated the Ambassador Flower Activity Project – a multi-regional initiative designed to embrace each other’s differences and appreciate one another for who they are. Flowers constructed of various materials were created at different practices and displayed in prominent areas for all staff to see and enjoy. Additional DEIB ambassadors Wanda McCurdy, MA II, Ruthy Sagastume, MA, Dorie Langlois, practice administrative associate, Mariel Rivera, MA, and Annmarie Giglietti, MA II, also contributed to the project’s overall success.
“The activities that the DEIB ambassadors have been doing have been successful in engaging employees in sometimes difficult decisions that lead to a greater awareness and acceptance of the differences that make us all who we are,” said Pomarico-Denino.
“This project was a lot of fun,” said Mitchell. “It allowed staff to know each other a lot more. The flower activity encouraged staff to embrace each other’s differences and understand each other’s diverse nature.”
