On Dec. 5, 2019, Community Outreach Committee (COC) members, along with providers and staff from Northeast Medical Group Rheumatology - Greenwich, volunteered for the Ronald McDonald House of Valhalla, NY dinner service. Volunteers showed their support for the monthly event by preparing a home-cooked meal consisting of spinach and cheese lasagna rollups, meatballs, mixed greens salad, fresh rolls and chocolate chip cookies for nearly 40 families. The program provides a much needed service to families who are supporting their sick children and don’t often have the time, financial means or energy to prepare a healthy, home-cooked meal.

“The service is immensely important to the community in which we work and to the families that benefit from our contributions,” said Jessica Morandi, practice operations manager. “We are providing comfort food for those who are more focused on their children getting well than on themselves staying well. It is an opportunity for the employees of NEMG to get together and meet one another while giving back to the community. It is also a way for individual practices to work together and build a better team structure. We all benefit from this activity and the volunteers get a free cooking lesson.”

There is a dinner service scheduled for each month of the 2020 calendar year. The COC is looking for volunteers to support future events. For more information, please contact Jessica Morandi, [email protected].
