For the quarter January to March 2023, Northeast Medical Group recognizes a valued member of its Community Outreach Committee (COC): Sabrina Fonteyn.
Fonteyn, preventive health coordinator, began working for NEMG in 2014 and has been a COC member for the past two years. Of the numerous programs she’s volunteered her time to, her personal favorite is the “House of Heroes” initiative – a program which recognizes and honors military and public safety veterans by providing free home repairs. “The veteran that was assigned to our team had arthritis in her hands, preventing her ability to maintain the landscaping in her yard,” said Fonteyn. “I thoroughly enjoyed working side-by-side with my fellow COC members to improve the overall appearance by pulling weeds, putting down mulch, planting flowers and painting her deck. Once the project was complete, I was able to witness the veteran express such happiness and gratitude. It was a truly fulfilling experience.”
When asked what she enjoys most about working with the COC, she said, “I find it super rewarding that the COC gives me the ability to help others and have a positive impact on people’s lives. I love being able to be engaged with my community and those in need by lending a helping hand.”
The COC is instrumental in carrying out NEMG’s mission to help the communities we serve. For information or to join, contact Robert Mitchell, 203-384-5109. Watch for more information on committee initiatives.
