The spirit of the holiday season was very active at Northeast Medical Group as 2022 came to a close.
Members of NEMG’s Community Outreach Committee (COC), along with numerous employees from the Bridgeport region, collected over 600 new, unwrapped toys for the Bridgeport East End Food Bank. Toys were collected at 99 Hawley Lane and at various NEMG sites in Bridgeport, Shelton and Trumbull.
“Families and children who visit the East End Food Bank each week were invited to stop by the morning of Dec. 25 to pick out toys graciously donated by employees of Bridgeport Hospital, Northeast Medical Group and Yale New Haven Health,” said Martha Judd, coordinator, Community, And Government Relations, YNHHS. “Our employees have been donating toys to the East End Food Bank families for over 15 years.”
Several practices in the New London region participated in “adopt a family” programs, collecting donations for struggling families and/or individuals. Each family is profiled – their background and stories are summarized without compromising privacy – and a set of specific needs are identified.
Northeast Medical Group Cardiology – Waterford and Northeast Medical Group Family Medicine – Waterford offered “Giving Walls”. Similar to advent calendars, someone gets to choose a day/package on the wall, receives a treat and in return, has to perform a random act of kindness as directed in a note within the package.
