This quarter, Northeast Medical Group recognizes a valued member of its Community Outreach Committee (COC): Lisa Dattilo.
Dattilo, practice operations manager, began working for NEMG in 2012 and has been a COC member since its 2015 inception. Of the numerous programs she’s volunteered her time to, her personal favorites include Toys for Tots; NEMG’s annual “Back to School” backpack drive; the Ronald McDonald House volunteer meal program; World Read Aloud Day – a global literacy movement to promote reading and writing among children and teens - for preschool children at the Mayo School in New Haven; and collaborating with both the United Way and ‘R Kids Family Center.
When asked what she enjoys most about working with the COC, she said, “For me it’s an inspiring experience. The COC allows me to take step back from the day-to-day and focus on ways to support the surrounding communities that I have both personal and professional ties to. Whether we are spending time at local schools, donating food or other goods, it is always humbling to make even the smallest difference in someone’s day. Many of the initiatives we support involve various levels of insecurities, food, financial, etc., and the pandemic has put even more strain on certain individuals. Being able to make a positive impact, especially now, is so important.”
The COC is instrumental in carrying out NEMG’s mission to help the communities we serve. For information or to join, contact Robert Mitchell, 203-384-5109. Watch for more information on committee initiatives.
