This quarter, Northeast Medical Group recognizes a new member of its Diversity Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Council: Andrea Waller.
Andrea Waller, preventive health coordinator, has been with NEMG since July 2014. As an active supporter of community outreach, Andrea has volunteered at both the NEMG Health Fair and the Yale New Haven Heart Walk. Most recently, she worked with the House of Heroes™ — a nonprofit organization serving our nation’s military and public safety veterans (and their spouses) who are disabled, living on a fixed income, or facing other physical/financial challenges. As part of the initiative, she helped make minor repairs and improvements to a veteran’s home. She looks forward to volunteering with additional programs, including collaborating with the Ronald McDonald House for future meal services.
“I am excited to be a part of the Council’s vision, mission and values,” said Waller. “I have always loved to give back to my community in any way I can. I asked to be a member of the DEI Council because I feel like I can help so many people in different ways and I want to share ideas with others who have the same goals for our community as I do. As a health coordinator, I educate and help patients stay up to date with their preventive screenings. I want to help improve health outcomes and reduce health disparities, especially since the pandemic.”
The Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Council is instrumental in carrying out NEMG’s mission to help the communities we serve. For information or to join, contact Robert Mitchell, 203-384-5109. Watch for more information on council initiatives.
