Medical Staff Wellness Committee awards inaugural community service award

NEMG obstetrician and gynecologist, Romelle Maloney, MD, and the Fairfield County Chapter of The Links, Inc. are the inaugural recipients of the Dr. Dickerman Hollister Jr. Community Service Award from the Greenwich Hospital Medical Staff Wellness Committee. “We know members of our medical staff are highly skilled, compassionate and dedicated,” said Spike Lipschutz, MD, vice president, Medical Services. “What we may not know, is that many also spend time working with organizations that support our communities.”

To recognize these efforts, the committee launched the service award in honor of Dr. Hollister (who recently retired) for his commitment to community service. The award, which comes with a $1,000 stipend for the organization, was presented at a recent Medical Staff meeting.

The Links, one of the nation’s oldest and largest volunteer service organizations, has a long tradition of engaging in educational, civic and cultural activities. The Fairfield County chapter has provided more than $200,000 in student scholarships and contributed over $400,000 in grants and services to organizations, such as the Norma F. Pfriem Breast Care Center.

“We will put this grant to good use right here in our community,” said Dr. Maloney, who accepted the grant on behalf of The Links.
