Matthew J. King, MD, a family medicine physician, is dedicated to providing individualized care to each of his patients. Dr. King specializes in chronic disease management, non-surgical sports medicine and healthcare equity. He offers a range of services, including steroid and gel joint injections, skin biopsies, laceration repair, ear irrigation and abscess drainage.
Dr. King earned his medical degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, developing a passion for family medicine. He completed his residency in family medicine at the Eastern Connecticut Health Network, where he served time as chief resident. In collaboration with the Manchester Department of Health and Human Services, he developed a screening program addressing social determinants of health. During his undergraduate years at Boston College, Dr. King received prestigious research scholarships from the American Society of Hematology (ASH) and the American Heart Association (AHA). He went on to work as a laboratory manager at Massachusetts General Hospital and the Harvard Stem Cell Institute's Center for Regenerative Medicine, leading to multiple publications.
A native of Lyme, Dr. King is excited to return to southeastern Connecticut, also working part-time at Lawrence + Memorial Hospital. In his free time, Dr. King enjoys spending time with his dogs, Radio and Pippin, and his cats, Rafiki and Kruton. He is a lifelong fisherman and enjoys time outdoors, especially at the beach. A passionate sports fan, he follows the Boston Red Sox, UConn basketball, Philadelphia Eagles and Philadelphia Flyers. Dr. King sees patients 18 years of age and older.
