New Haven, CT (Sept. 24, 2021) – Yale New Haven Health System (YNHHS) today announced that it has begun offering booster and dose three vaccinations at select sites across the state.
In accordance with The Centers for Disease Control (CDC), YNHHS will administer booster doses of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine for those 65 and older, those 18 to 64 who are at high risk of severe COVID-19 and healthcare workers. Booster doses can be given six months since after the completion of the second Pfizer dose. An explanation on the differences between a third dose and a booster can be found here. Those who received J&J or Moderna are not yet eligible for a booster.
In addition, CDC now recommends a third dose for patients who are immunocompromised and received either Pfizer or Moderna.
All vaccinations are by appointment only and can be made now on the YNHHS website: www.ynhhs.org/covidvaccine. More appointments are being added as vaccine is made available to ensure that there is sufficient supply for all scheduled patients.
