Yale New Haven Health statement addressing IT services

Tuesday, March 11, 2025

This weekend, Yale New Haven Health identified an issue affecting IT services across our Health System. This issue was immediately identified by our Digital and Technology Solutions team, who quickly began working to mitigate the issue and launched an investigation into its source. Working with Mandiant, an internationally renowned cybersecurity firm, our investigation determined that the issue was a cybersecurity incident. We are notifying federal authorities of the incident and Mandiant is conducting a thorough investigation.

Due to our team’s quick action to identify and help to contain this incident, it has not affected our ability to provide patient care. Our patient portal and electronic medical records are running as normal, and our teams are working hard to manage the impact of phone and internet connection issues on patient care. There remain intermittent internet and application connectivity issues as our team rebuilds access to programs – this is purposeful and part of our comprehensive protocols for mitigating cybersecurity events.

We apologize for any inconvenience or delays these issues may cause, and we thank our staff, patients and community members for their patience as we work to restore full access across our systems. We will continue to keep our staff and patients apprised of updates, as appropriate.
