Community Outreach Committee (COC) members from Northeast Medical Group’s New London region recently participated in a new initiative, “You’ve Got Mail,” to connect with local skilled nursing facilities residents. More than 300 personalized cards and letters were sent to bring joy, comfort and a sense of belonging to residents at Beechwood and Harbor Village, New London; Greentree Manor, Waterford; and Mystic Manor Rehab, Mystic.
“Our goal is to foster connection, promote inclusion and show our commitment to building relationships across diverse generations within the community,” said Mio Santiago, patient administrative associate. “We’re providing an opportunity for team members to get creative and share messages of kindness and encouragement. This initiative reflects our dedication to extending our reach beyond the workplace and into the heart of our community. Whether through art, words, or both, each card is a chance to make a difference.”
Santiago noted that there are long-term residents at each facility who could become monthly pen pals with NEMG staff members.
